Terms of use
Last updated: 8 October 2026
The Music Ledger is a music practice app run by Andrew Storey, an individual based in the United Kingdom (contact email: themusicledgerapp@gmail.com). By using the app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
Your account
- Keep your sign-in details to yourself. You are responsible for what is done with your account.
- Give your real name and an email address you can read - that is how a password reset reaches you.
- You can delete your account at any time via: Account, My details, Delete my account.
What you put in
- The pieces, recordings and documents you add stay yours. You let us store them and show them to you - and to your band, if you add them to one - so the app can work.
- Only add recordings, scores and parts you have the right to use. Printed music and recordings are usually someone's copyright. If a recording has other people in it, make sure they know it is being shared.
- If you think something in the app uses your work without permission, email themusicledgerapp@gmail.com and we will look into it and take it down where that is right.
- We may remove anything that breaks these terms or the law.
- Do not share anything illegal, anything sexual, anything hateful, bullying or frightening, or anything that is not yours to share. This is an app for a band's music and nothing else.
- If you see something that should not be here, use Report on the piece's menu, or email themusicledgerapp@gmail.com. We aim to look at every report within two working days.
- If something breaks these rules we will remove it and tell the people it belonged to. We may close the account of someone who shares it.
- Running a band's space is for adults. To set up sharing for a band or invite people to it, you must be 18 or over and responsible for that band.
- Andrew Storey is responsible for the app and for acting on reports.
Using the app fairly
- Don't try to get into anyone else's account or information.
- Don't use the app to send unwanted email. Invites are for people you know.
- Don't try to break, overload or copy the service.
YouTube videos
- A piece can have a YouTube video attached, which plays in YouTube's own player. By using that you also agree to YouTube's Terms of Service.
Exam grades
- The grade lists in Scales and the grades in Theory follow syllabuses published by ABRSM. The Music Ledger is an independent app: it isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or approved by ABRSM. Exam requirements belong to ABRSM and can change, so always check the current syllabus before an exam.
What we promise, and what we don't
- We work to keep the app running and your information safe, but the app is provided "as is". We can't promise it will always be available or free of mistakes, and features may change. Keep your own copies of anything you couldn't bear to lose.
- Nothing in these terms excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Subject to that, we are not responsible for losses we couldn't reasonably have expected.
- Nothing in these terms takes away legal rights you have as a consumer under UK law.
Ending and changes
- You can stop using the app at any time. When you delete your account, your data and recordings will be permanently removed as outlined in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.
- If these terms change, we will update the date at the top and tell you in the app if the change matters.
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
